What is AVP?
What is Alternatives to Violence Project?

Depends upon who you ask. A long time facilitator might say AVP is a simple program for complicated people. Students in an alternative school might think “AVP gets us away from the boring stuff, and we can learn things that are useful”. Some prisoners have said that their AVP workshop was the first time in their life that they began to know their worth and value.
Our world is also a place of people willing to engage, learn, forgive, discuss, celebrate, and appreciate. AVP does all that with a model that has worked wonders since 1975. As the world changes, AVP adapts to those changes to address real human topics we can explore together.
AVP can break down barriers, melt misunderstandings, forge positive connections, and unite differences in ways that are often surprisingly real. While words can describe what happens, there is no way to predict what might happen in an AVP experience. It is definitely not like a history class, and not a way to indoctrinate or coerce anyone into a new system of beliefs and behaviors. AVP is full of questions that sometimes don’t have a simple answer. AVP can be silly, profound, and everything in between.
Check out some AVP workshop options, and see if any of them might work for you. You might just be surprised at what is waiting there for you and others.
